Be sure that the design does not have a "stroke". Start with the orignal design you want to outline, say text for example. In the Path menu, I'll select Union. This will merge all my shapes into one.With this Inkscape extension, drawing objects in the isometric projection became a lot easier for me. I like how I can draft parts of my design in a flat projection with the rectangular grid, and have the benefit using of Inkscapes useful Align and Distribute tool, before I transform the object to one of the isometric projections sides.However, when I "Union" the objects, two of the inner objects become thinner. If I "Combine" them, the outer object becomes fatter.
Now make sure the duplicate, which u just lowered, is selected through this whole process and you add your "stroke" to it. Then, you wanna "lower" it below the orignal ( click on object > lower or lower to bottom). Next, duplicate your desgin. If there is a color beside "stroke", right click the color and choose "remove stroke".
